Lijiang changes with time of day and altitude: Old Town needs an early morning or evening, Baisha and Shuhe suit a slow half day, and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain depends on reservations, weather, and physical condition. Separating them avoids a trip made only of commercial lanes and transfers.

Early stone lanes are quieter and reveal the water channels, courtyards, and Naxi homes more clearly. Evening lights add atmosphere, but the busiest bar streets should not become the whole Old Town experience.

Villages

Choose Baisha or Shuhe, or give both a slow half day

Baisha is stronger for murals, village texture, and mountain views, while Shuhe has more developed cafes and rest options. Choose one when time is short and link both only with a slower schedule.

Altitude

Make Jade Dragon Snow Mountain its own day

The Glacier Park cableway reaches high altitude and can change with weather or operations. Confirm reservations, slow down around physical response, and do not force Blue Moon Valley, villages, and a full Old Town night into the same day.
