Green Lake offers a level, easy walk for settling into Kunming. Winter gull season brings heavier crowds, so an earlier visit feels calmer and links naturally with the Military Academy and nearby streets.
When planning a scenery day in Kunming, put transport, weather, and stamina before attraction names. The most beautiful places do not always work well when stacked tightly, so leave time to pause, drink water, photograph, and adjust the day naturally.
Haigeng is for broad lake views, while the Western Hills add steps, slopes, and higher viewpoints. With children or older travellers, keep the lakeside and shorten the hill walk instead of exhausting the group for completeness.
Kunming scenery works better in half-day or full-day blocks than as a list of famous stops. This gives you room when rain, mist, queues, or temporary closures appear, without ruining dinner or rest later in the day.
